Jalen James: Daycare Setting

Jalen has been in the daycare at Lincoln-Way East (where daddy works) for two weeks now. The ladies absolutely love him in the infant room. They blow up his parent's heads by saying that if the infant room was full of Jalen's their job would be cake. He does great because he gets a lot of attention. One personality trait as mentioned before much like his father's.

Jalen is getting so big... and cuter by the day. He is huge at over 22 pounds. We recently found out his weight because we made a trip to the doctor because of a fever he has. He was sent home the other day from daycare with a 101 temp. I made an appointment the next day to pretty much get a note saying that he will spike a temp due to teething. I was surprised to find out that he is actually fighting off a virus. In the back of my mind I'm thinking if he gets a virus ever again can he get this same one... because... he seemed happy, no runny nose or stool, just the same old Jalen with a 101 temp (and a little eczema rash by what the Dr. says). BUT I thought too soon! The infant room at the daycare has hand, foot, and mouth disease running ramped. Today Friday of Labor Day weekend he comes home from daycare very sad, mad, and all of the negative possible. That rash hasn't gone away either and we've bathed him in aquaphor several times. Sadly, we think he has come down with the case of HFMD. The poor baby is the last to get it in the infant room. He hasn't broke out with any blisters or sores in his mouth but we believe time will tell. Poor little guy! All he wants it to just cry (very uncharacteristic) and be held. The rash even looks horrible though they say it is a non-irritating rash.

On the healthy front, he is doing great and we are still waiting on the top couple of teeth. They are pretty swollen but nothing yet. He's learned to clap and say "ba ba," "da-da," and "ma-ma". I don't think he knows that is what he is saying yet. I have one of Jalen's laughing spells on video. I just need to get Daddy Byrd to put it on the computer for us to enjoy. It is absolutely infectious!!!!!!!
